Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – Short Stories for Kids

“Snow White” is a 19th-century German fairy tale that is today known widely across the Western world. The Brothers Grimm published it in 1812 in the first edition of their collection Grimms’ Fairy Tales and numbered as Tale 53. The original German title was Sneewittchen, a Low German form, but the first version gave the High German translation Schneeweißchen, and the tale has become known in German by the mixed form Schneewittchen. The Grimms completed their final revision of the story in 1854. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a 1937 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Productions based on the “Snow White” fairy tale. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Once upon a time there lived a king and a queen. They were both kind and the people in their kingdom lived happily, too. One day the queen gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She was so fair, so they named her “Snow White”.

A few years later, the queen fell ill and died. The king remarried another beautiful lady. Snow White’s stepmother was very proud of her beauty. Every day, she looked in her magic mirror and asked,

“Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of all? “

And the mirror replied,

“You are my Queen, the fairest of all!”

The days passed by. Snow White grew up to be a beautiful young lady. As usual, Snow White’s stepmother locked in her mirror and asked,

“Mirror Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of all?”

And the mirror replied,

“Snow White is the fairest of all”.

The stepmother was jealous and furious. She hired a huntsman and ordered him to take Snow White away and kill her. The huntsman took Snow White to the heart of a deep forest. The huntsman did not kill the the innocent princess. But he abandoned her in the dark and strange forest.She was so frightened she cried out for help. But nobody heard her pleas. The seven dwarfs, returning home from work, saw a beautiful princess sleeping under a tree.

The dwarfs took her to their home in the cave. There were seven little chairs around a little table. On the table, there were seven little plates and cups set for dinner. Nearby there were seven little beds ready for the dwarfs to sleep in. Snow White was delighted.

The dwarfs made a special plate, cup, chair and a bed for Snow White. In return, she cooked and cleaned the house for them. The dwarfs enjoyed singing and dancing very much. Snow White joined them and felt happy living with her seven friends.

Each morning, When the dwarfs left for work, they warned Snow White to close the door behind her and not it opens it for any strangers. She stood by the window and waved the dwarfs off to work. In the palace, the stepmother asked the magic mirror her usual question,

“Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of all?”

And the mirror replied,

“Snow White is the fairest of all!”

The stepmother was so angry. “Then Snow White is still alive! How could this happen? This time, I will kill that girl myself” thought the cruel stepmother. She disguised as an old apple seller and set off to the deep forest. Shortly, the stepmother reached the dwarfs’ home. “Apples! Apples! Who wants fresh apples? “She called out. Snow White came to the window. She didn’t recognize her disguised stepmother. “I don’t have any money to buy apples” said her. “Don’t worry my child. Since you are very pretty I will present this apple to you” said the stepmother. Not wanting to hurt the old Woman’s feelings she accepted the apple.

The cruel stepmother had poisoned the apple. Not knowing this, Snow White took a bite. It choked her. She couldn’t breath and she fell on the floor unconsciously. The wicked stepmother, thinking she was dead, happily returned to the palace.

When the seven draws came home that evening, they found Snow White lying on the floor. She was not breathing. “Oh Our beautiful princess is dead” cried the dwarfs sadly. They made a beautiful glass box and put her in it. Then they placed the box on a high place.

One day, a handsome prince riding through the forest, happened to see the little house in the cave. He peeped through the window and saw a beautiful girl lying inside a glass box. He was surprised. “Who is she? And what is she doing in this strange little house?” he wondered.

The prince entered the house. He went to the glass box and stood looking closely at the beautiful girl.at this moment, the seven dwarfs returned home. They saw the prince and thought that he was the man that killed their beautiful princess and started to attack him.

In his defense, the glass box was toppled down by the prince, accidentally. As it fell on to the floor hard, the choked piece of apple was thrown out from Snow White’s throat. At last, Snow White could breathe.

The prince took her and the seven dwarfs to the palace. The king welcomed his daughter and the others wish open happy to find his beautiful daughter backed king expelled the cruel stepmother to a faraway country. He rewarded the seven dwarfs who looked after his daughter in the forest with valuable presents. The handsome prince married the princess Snow White and they lived happily.
