Mark Twain is Samuel Langhorne Clemens’ pen name. He was born in Florida in 1835, on 30th November. He was a journalist, writer, novelist, publisher, humorist, and lecturer. Some of his most famous novels include The Adventure of Tom Sawyer, which he wrote in 1876 and the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in 1884, which is also known as The Great American Novel.
This writer overcame limitations brought his way by his origin and childhood background to become America’s beloved and one of the best authors. To honor this great name, there are several places named after Mark Twain, and they include:
Mark Twain National Forest

The Mark Twain Cave initially known as McDowell’s Cave and is located close to Hannibal in Missouri. It has changed in Mark Twain after the author because he lived in Hannibal from the age of 4 up to 17 years of age. The cave has been of the best places to tour in Hannibal since 1886. In 1972, it had declared and officially registered as a National Natural Landmark.
In his novel, The Adventures of Tom Sawyers, this cave plays a great role. He drew a lot of inspiration from this natural landmark.

Mark Twain State Park is strategically located close to Mark Twain Lake and is a recreation area lying on 2, 775 acres. The park is ideal for various activities including hiking, camping and water sports. It allows you to access other amazing places such as Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic site. It leads you to the Mark Twain Lake and when visiting the park, you will be spoilt for places to explore.
Mark Twain Museum
The Mark Twain Museum was the home to him. This renowned author created most his stories while in his home. The museum has been in use since 1912 and later declared as National Historic Landmark in 1962.

The Mark Twain Prize was first given out in 1998 by Kennedy Center for art performers. It gives to people impact the American society through their art talent. He died free of debts thanks to Henry Huttleston Rogers who helped him overcome financial problems and pay all his creditors. Mark Twain is a true American legend worth all the honor given to him.
